Mine Surveyor – Underground Mining Operations

About the role

The Mine Surveyor will provide accurate and timely survey services to support safe, efficient, and economical underground and surface mining operations. The role ensures compliance with survey codes, mine designs, statutory requirements and company standards while maintaining reliable spatial data for planning and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Survey underground workings advances according to mine design parameters and update plans for stockpiles and dumps.
• Set out mining limits to guide development and stoping in line with design specifications.
• Perform depletions, analyse survey data and determine total ore flow.
• Validate production information and reconcile it with survey measurements for official reporting.
• Determine appropriate survey methods and implement monitoring systems for structural deformation.
• Acquire and analyse spatial data to assess ground integrity, movements and deformation behaviour.
• Ensure compliance with best‑practice survey standards, data collection, quality control and assurance.
• Implement corrective actions from HSEC audits and enforce health, safety and environment policies.
• Maintain statutory compliance of survey records, plans and lease boundaries.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mine Surveying, Surveying, Geomatics or equivalent.
• Minimum six years of underground mine surveying experience, including at least three years in a fully mechanised operation.
• Experience with decline re‑traverses and survey projects is desirable.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with mine survey software, preferably Deswik.
• Strong CAD skills for survey design and analysis.
