Database Geologist

About the role

The Database Geologist will ensure that exploration data is stored securely, validated, and readily available for geological modelling and mineral resource estimation. You will act as the data‑quality champion for the exploration team, maintaining a functional geological database that supports downstream mine planning activities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain high data integrity by applying QA/QC standards to all incoming data.
• Upload collar surveys, downhole surveys, samples, assays, geological and geotechnical data into the Geobank database.
• Audit drill‑hole data and validate new entries, focusing on location, orientation, lithology, geotechnical, sample and assay attributes.
• Extract and manipulate data using SQL scripting.
• Keep sample ledger books synchronized with the database.
• Conduct internal process and laboratory audits to ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly QA/QC reports.
• Liaise with analytical labs and transport providers for sample tracking and analysis.
• Maintain configuration of exploration software (Geobank, Leapfrog, MapInfo, IoGas, ArcGIS, QGIS).
• Manage electronic filing, archiving, backup and restoration of databases.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Geology.
• Minimum 5 years post‑graduate experience in exploration data management.
• Proven experience with geological modelling and data‑management software.
