Geotechnical Technician

About the role

The Geotechnical Technician will work closely with the Geotechnical Engineer to support underground mining operations. The role involves maintaining QA/QC databases, monitoring excavation performance, and ensuring that ground support and blasting activities meet safety and technical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform underground mining and geotechnical engineering tasks, including design support, development, and testing.
• Interface with underground crews to oversee ground support installation and quality‑assurance activities.
• Maintain and update the QA/QC data base, track excavation performance, and identify any anomalies.
• Conduct Active Heading Inspections, ScanIT core logging, structural mapping, and pre‑blasting audits of brow support.
• Carry out routine QA/QC inspections, task observations and ensure compliance with procedures.
• Analyse new technologies and recommend improvements to techniques, equipment and processes.
• Collaborate with project engineers and management to define technical requirements and performance objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or Geology.
• At least 2 years of experience in mining engineering.
• Demonstrated experience with geotechnical logging and mapping.
