Maintenance Planner – Fixed Plant Mechanical & Electrical

About the role

The Maintenance Planner will manage the maintenance of fixed‑plant mechanical and electrical equipment, ensuring optimal availability and reliability to meet production targets. This role involves planning, scheduling, and monitoring maintenance activities across a mining operation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct plant inspections, identify defects, issue and track work orders, and report to Engineers.
• Maintain accurate asset registers and technical documentation for all fixed‑plant equipment.
• Develop and update maintenance strategies, schedules, and condition‑monitoring programmes in line with OEM requirements.
• Create detailed job packages covering scope, resources, standards, permits, risks, constraints and sequencing.
• Manage and optimise the CMMS, including codes, job plans, job cards and history.
• Prioritise work, coordinate planned maintenance and shutdowns, and conduct post‑shutdown reviews.
• Monitor performance metrics (schedule compliance, MTBF, MTTR, availability, OEE) and drive decisions.
• Support budget development, monitor costs, and implement cost‑saving initiatives.
• Generate and submit maintenance reports, ensuring compliance with legislation and safety standards.

Required profile

• National Craft Certificate or Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum 8 years post‑qualification experience, with at least 5 years in mining fixed‑plant maintenance.
• At least 2 years in a supervisory role or equivalent planning experience.
• Proven experience with computer‑based maintenance management systems.
