Mine Planning Engineer

About the role

The Mine Planning Engineer will deliver short‑term mine design solutions, translating long‑term development plans into detailed operational designs. The role supports the underground copper operation by ensuring efficient extraction, safe stope design, and effective drill‑and‑blast execution.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare preliminary and conceptual mine designs based on LOM inputs and geological grade‑control data.
• Develop detailed mine designs and production schedules aligned with a 3‑month planning cycle.
• Design and implement drilling and blasting plans tailored to geological conditions.
• Coordinate with geologists, surveyors, geotechnical staff and contractors to align blasting, ventilation, and level designs with production goals.
• Monitor blast outcomes, adjust techniques to improve fragmentation and reduce costs.
• Maintain design registers and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of underground mining engineering experience, preferably in copper.
• Registration with the Engineers Registration Board of Botswana.
• Underground Mining Blasting License (highly regarded).
