Mining Superintendent

About the role

The Mining Superintendent leads the execution of box cuts, mine development, and related underground mining activities. This role ensures that all works are delivered according to approved designs, technical standards, statutory requirements, and operational readiness objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise box cuts, portals, declines, level development, and associated mining works.
• Ensure mining activities follow approved designs, schedules, specifications, and quality standards.
• Monitor development performance against budget, schedule, and production targets, applying corrective actions as needed.
• Support planning and execution of operational readiness for expansion mines.
• Verify that mining works and infrastructure meet required quality and are fit for purpose.
• Review and approve construction, commissioning, and hand‑over documentation.
• Track KPIs related to safety, development advance, equipment utilization, productivity, cost, and quality.
• Provide technical input for short‑, medium‑, and long‑term mine planning.
• Lead, mentor, and develop supervisors and operational teams.
• Ensure compliance with mining legislation, regulations, permits, standards, and codes of practice.
• Support audits, inspections, and regulatory engagements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in underground mining operations.
• At least 5 years in a management role overseeing mine development, production, and contractor activities.
