Remote Medical Coder

About the role

We are looking for a meticulous Remote Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will apply US or UK coding standards to complex patient records, ensuring accurate reimbursement and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Review inpatient and outpatient medical records, operative reports, and discharge summaries.
• Assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes (ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, HCPCS, ICD‑10, OPCS‑4, SNOMED CT).
• Identify documentation gaps, query clinicians, and resolve coding discrepancies.
• Optimize reimbursement by correcting errors and addressing claim denials.
• Maintain data integrity through audits and adherence to quality standards.
• Stay current with coding guideline updates and compliance regulations.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hospital medical coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
• Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or equivalent UK credential.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
• Proficiency with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web, or SystmOne.
• Reliable computer (Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+) and high‑speed internet with backup power supply.
