Senior Public Relations Specialist

About the role

The Snr Public Relations role at Hotwire is a full-time, on-site position based in Gaborone. The person in this role will plan, develop, and implement strategic public relations campaigns that enhance client reputation and support business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and refine press releases and other communication materials for multiple channels.
• Manage media outreach, build relationships with journalists, and organise interviews and briefings.
• Monitor media coverage, analyse public sentiment and provide detailed reports and insights.
• Advise clients on messaging, positioning and overall communication strategy.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to ensure PR activities reflect Hotwire’s standards of creativity and professionalism.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive workplace culture.

Required profile

• Strong public relations and strategic communications experience, including designing and executing integrated PR campaigns.
• Excellent media‑relations and press‑release writing skills, with a proven ability to build journalist relationships.
• Advanced communication abilities – persuasive writing, confident presentation and effective stakeholder engagement.
• Experience in public affairs or corporate communications, preferably within an agency or consultancy environment.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related field.
• Demonstrated capability to manage multiple clients or projects, meet deadlines and maintain high‑quality standards.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret media coverage and adjust strategies accordingly.
• Leadership experience, including mentoring team members and fostering an inclusive culture.
