About the role
The Botswana Society seeks an Assistant Editor for Botswana Notes and Records, its premier scholarly journal on Botswana. The role will support the chief editor in managing submissions, coordinating peer review, and overseeing the journal’s transition to bi‑annual publication.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the chief editor with correspondence with authors and blind reviewers.
- Oversee book reviews and ensure they meet BNR standards.
- Review manuscripts for adherence to BNR guidelines and formatting requirements.
- Coordinate the journal’s shift from an annual to a bi‑annual publishing schedule.
- Ensure submissions are original, properly referenced, and suitable for non‑specialist readers.
Required profile
- Established, published scholar at a tertiary institution (in Africa or elsewhere).
- Editorial experience with an indexed journal or journals.
- Background in Botswana‑related research in the humanities, social sciences or other sciences.
