Business Development Officer

About the role

The Business Development Officer will drive growth by identifying, pursuing and securing new insurance business opportunities while retaining and expanding existing client relationships. The role focuses on understanding client needs, promoting non‑life insurance products and achieving revenue targets.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and research potential clients through events, referrals and market analysis.
• Generate leads, maintain a robust pipeline and conduct thorough needs assessments.
• Present, explain and tailor insurance solutions to individual or business clients.
• Build and sustain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor on risk management.
• Develop and execute sales strategies to meet or exceed targets.
• Negotiate terms and conditions, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements.
• Cross‑sell additional insurance products to existing clients.
• Collaborate with underwriters, claims specialists and marketing teams to ensure seamless service delivery.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management or related field.
• Relevant insurance certifications (e.g., COP; AIISA is a plus).
• Minimum 3 years of sales and business development experience, preferably in commercial or specialised non‑life insurance.
• Strong understanding of non‑life insurance products and regulations.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
