Business Development Officer

About the role

The Business Development Officer will lead the company’s expansion efforts in Botswana, building and managing relationships with government bodies, regulators, banks and local partners. This front‑facing position requires confidence, persuasive communication and the ability to represent the organisation at senior levels.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, pursue and develop new business opportunities aligned with the company’s exploration and mining objectives in Botswana.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with local government agencies, mining and regulatory authorities, and financial institutions.
• Represent the company in meetings, negotiations and official engagements, clearly conveying its interests.
• Support licensing, permitting and regulatory processes by liaising with relevant authorities and tracking requirements.
• Identify and assess potential local partners, suppliers and stakeholders, helping to structure mutually beneficial arrangements.
• Monitor the local mining sector, policy developments and competitor activity, reporting insights to senior management.
• Coordinate with regional and head‑office teams to align local initiatives with broader corporate strategy.
• Prepare proposals, briefing materials and reports to support business development decisions.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of business development experience, preferably within the mining sector in Botswana.
• Proven experience engaging with government bodies, regulatory authorities and/or banking institutions.
• Strong understanding of Botswana’s business, regulatory and commercial environment; mining sector knowledge is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, geology, mining, economics, law or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Excellent written and spoken English; fluency in Setswana is an advantage.
• Willingness to travel within Botswana and occasionally regionally.
• Confident, charismatic, self‑starting with high integrity and sound judgement.
