Finance & Contracts Manager

About the role

Conservation International is seeking a Finance & Contracts Manager to lead financial and grants‑contract administration for the “Ecosystem‑Based Adaptation and Mitigation in Botswana’s Communal Rangelands” project funded by the Green Climate Fund. Based in Gaborone, the role supports both the project and the CI Botswana Country Programme, ensuring compliance with donor and organisational policies.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and produce monthly, quarterly and periodic financial reports and donor statements, reviewing results with senior project management.
• Coordinate the annual budgeting process, provide training, generate budget‑vs‑actual analyses and approve procurement and expenditure requests within authorized limits.
• Manage grants and contracts, reviewing all related activities for accuracy, completeness and compliance with CI and donor guidelines.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for cost‑center managers, partners and donors on financial and contractual matters, working closely with the Head of Finance and Administration and CI HQ finance staff.
• Respond to ad‑hoc financial and grants‑related analysis requests and ensure timely, accurate reporting.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in finance, accounting, economics or a related field.
• Proven experience in financial management, budgeting and grants/contract administration, preferably in international development or environmental projects.
• Strong knowledge of donor reporting requirements and ability to ensure compliance.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills for interaction with partners, donors and internal teams.
