GET Operative – Mining Equipment Maintenance

About the role

The GET Operative is responsible for maintaining and extending the life of GET consumables on drill rigs, ensuring performance contracts are met through productivity, cost‑effectiveness and safety. You will work in a workshop and underground environment, supporting drilling operations for Sandvik’s mining solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Identify work from work orders and perform scheduled maintenance.
• Transport GET consumables between workshop and underground sites.
• Fit and remove equipment on drill rigs, regularly inspect bit conditions.
• Re‑grind and sharpen TH bits to extend their life.
• Carry out safe component changes and maintain bit care schedules.
• Record equipment changes, deviations and report damaged or lost metal.
• Address complaints, follow PPE compliance, keep workshop clean, and report hazards.
• Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks and complete near‑miss reports.

Required profile

• Minimum O’ Level / BGCSE qualification or a mechanical trade certificate.
• Prior exposure to Sandvik Rock tool products is a distinct advantage.
• Valid class B driver’s licence.
• Experience in drilling activities or as a drill assistant.
• Computer literacy.
