Governance Specialist (Open to all applicants)

About the role
The Governance Specialist will support UNDP Botswana in strengthening institutional capacities, improving coordination, and enhancing public service delivery across the country. The role contributes to the Country Programme (2022‑2026) and aligns with Botswana’s Vision 2036, the Sustainable Development Goals, and the United Nations Cooperation Framework.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic, evidence‑based advisory support to national partners on governance reforms and public sector modernization.
- Assist in designing and implementing interventions that promote efficient service delivery, digital transformation, and responsive public services.
- Facilitate coordination among UN agencies, government ministries, and civil society to ensure coherent implementation of the Country Programme.
- Monitor and report on progress against governance‑related results in the UN Cooperation Framework and Country Programme Document.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing, capacity‑building workshops, and policy dialogues on good governance practices.
Required profile
- Relevant university degree in public administration, political science, development studies, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience working on governance, public sector reform, or policy advisory in a development context.
- Strong understanding of Botswana’s institutional landscape and the challenges of digital public service delivery.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
