Human Resources Manager – Mining Operations

About the role

The Human Resources Manager will lead the people agenda for Sandfire’s Motheo Copper Operations in Botswana. Reporting to the General Manager, this senior HR leader translates corporate people strategy into practical plans that support safe, consistent and predictable performance.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the General Manager and site leadership to develop and execute the people strategy, workforce planning and organisational design.
• Oversee recruitment, selection, reward, benefits and HR financial governance for the site.
• Drive organisational development, performance management and employee engagement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with Botswana employment legislation, manage localisation, mobility and regulator relationships.
• Lead the HR team, manage the HR budget and provide data‑driven analytics to support decision‑making.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Organisational Psychology, Business Administration or related field.
• 10‑15 years of broad HR experience, including at least 5 years in a senior HR leadership or business partnering role.
• Experience in mining, resources or similarly complex industrial environments is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated expertise in employee/industrial relations, workforce planning, reward, talent, organisational development and HR governance.
• Strong knowledge of Botswana labour legislation and experience engaging regulators and organised labour bodies.
• Proven ability to influence senior leaders, make evidence‑based decisions and drive strategic, commercial outcomes.
