Lecturer in Mining Engineering – University Position

About the role

The University seeks a qualified Lecturer in Mining Engineering to join its BIUST Campus in Palapye. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and postgraduate students, lead module activities, and contribute to research and professional service in the mining discipline.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality teaching for undergraduate and postgraduate mining engineering courses.
• Administer teaching activities, provide leadership at module or course level, and supervise research projects.
• Develop and publish research to build a national reputation in the field.
• Engage in professional service and contribute to accreditation and funding proposals.

Required profile

• BEng and MEng in Mining Engineering, plus a PhD in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• Demonstrated teaching experience or relevant industrial experience, with a record of research, publications, or creative works.
• Ability to prepare proposals, manage information, and supervise graduate students.
• Strong communication skills and familiarity with higher‑education environments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with mining software such as Surpac and Datamine.
• Expertise in mine planning, surface mining, underground mining, mine machinery, blasting, explosives, and rock fragmentation.
• Knowledge of operations research and mine surveying.
• General computer proficiency and research methodology.
