Risk Manager

About the role

The Risk Manager is responsible for protecting the organisation from financial loss, safety incidents, and compliance breaches. The role focuses on proactive prevention, risk assessment, and the implementation of effective loss‑prevention strategies across stores and warehouses.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain HR and store compliance systems, ensuring 100% adherence to company policies and legislative requirements.
• Develop methodologies to quantify financial impact of loss and prepare risk‑management and insurance budgets.
• Maintain records of insurance policies, claims, and loss experience; assist in contract reviews for risk implications.
• Conduct investigations of criminal activities, compile reports, and liaise with legal and risk‑management teams.
• Perform quarterly risk assessments, identify exposure areas, and recommend corrective actions for both internal (cash handling, inventory control) and external threats (shoplifting, vandalism).
• Audit compliance with operational procedures and provide coaching to managers on corrective measures.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary education or equivalent qualifications (e.g., BGCSE and further studies in risk, safety, or related fields).
• Experience in loss prevention, health and safety compliance, or risk management within a retail or similar environment.
• Strong analytical abilities to assess financial impact and develop mitigation strategies.
• Excellent communication skills for reporting, training, and stakeholder liaison.
