Stakeholder Manager

About the role

The Stakeholder Manager will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive engagement strategy with key government bodies and external partners. This senior position ensures regulatory alignment, resolves stakeholder issues proactively, and protects the company’s social licence to operate.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a stakeholder engagement strategy aligned with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Establish and maintain strategic relationships with the Office of the President, Department of Mines, Engineers Registration Board, Ministry of Labour, and other relevant institutions.
• Act as the primary liaison between the company and government entities, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
• Coordinate collaboration platforms, represent the company in high‑level meetings, and manage escalation of critical issues.
• Monitor regulatory developments, advise senior management on risks and opportunities, and support compliance with licensing requirements.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date stakeholder register, engagement plans, and interaction records.
• Support reputation management and build partnerships with agencies such as the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Public Administration, Development Studies, Communications, Law or a related field.
• Post‑graduate qualification in Business, Public Policy or Sustainability is advantageous.
• 6‑8 years of experience in stakeholder management, external affairs or government relations.
• Proven experience engaging senior government officials and regulatory bodies.
• Experience in mining, energy or large infrastructure projects preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Botswana government structures, regulatory environment and mining legislation.
