About the role
The Country Finance Director is the on‑the‑ground financial owner of EZRA’s regulated micro‑lending entity in Botswana. This hands‑on, sole‑charge role is responsible for managing the books, ensuring compliance with IFRS and group policies, and overseeing debt‑funded lending operations.
Key responsibilities
- Own the full accounting cycle for the Botswana entity, including general ledger, month‑end close, balance‑sheet integrity and reconciliations.
- Prepare accurate statutory and management accounts and report to the Group/HQ finance function on the established cadence.
- Ensure full compliance with IFRS and internal group reporting standards.
- Lead local budgeting, forecasting and financial planning aligned with group targets.
- Actively manage debt covenants, monitor headroom, forecast covenant positions and flag risks early.
- Prepare and submit lender/investor reporting packs, compliance certificates and borrowing‑base documentation.
- Model the impact of growth, pricing and portfolio decisions on covenant compliance before commitments are made.
- Manage treasury and liquidity, optimise funding utilisation and maintain strong relationships with local banks.
- Monitor loan‑book performance, portfolio quality (PAR, NPL ratios) and ensure appropriate provisioning and impairment.
- Partner with Risk and Credit teams to keep financial and credit strategies aligned.
- Own local tax compliance (corporate tax, VAT, withholding) and manage transfer‑pricing documentation for intercompany transactions.
Required profile
- Proven experience as a finance leader in a debt‑funded or micro‑lending environment.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS and full‑cycle accounting.
- Commercial judgement to balance financial discipline with business growth.
- Ability to work independently as the sole finance owner for a country entity.
- Experience interacting with lenders, auditors and tax authorities.
