Botswana Herding for Health Manager

About the role

The Botswana Herding for Health (H4H) Manager will support the implementation of sustainable livestock and rangeland practices across Botswana and pilot sites in the KAZA region. Reporting to the H4H Senior Technical Manager, the role provides day‑to‑day technical guidance to field teams, ensuring that grazing and livestock systems are adapted to local ecological and cultural contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Assist national teams in applying best‑practice sustainable rangeland and livestock management approaches.
• Provide on‑site technical support, troubleshooting animal health and environmental challenges.
• Contribute to the development and updating of technical learning materials based on emerging research and field lessons.
• Ensure compliance with Conservation International’s gender and environmental safeguards.
• Participate in the Africa Rangelands Team, supporting strategic planning, cross‑site learning, and problem‑solving.
• Coordinate with other CI technical divisions and the Peace Parks Foundation to enhance programme delivery.

Required profile

• Experience in rangeland, livestock, or regenerative agriculture projects, preferably in African contexts.
• Strong understanding of sustainable grazing systems and ecosystem health.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including local communities and technical staff.
• Commitment to gender equity and environmental safeguards.

Required skills

• Knowledge of sustainable livestock and rangeland management practices.
• Familiarity with regenerative agriculture principles.
• Experience developing technical guidance or training materials.
