HR Compliance Officer

About the role

The HR Compliance Officer will be based on‑site in Gaborone, supporting HRLeverage Africa’s diverse client base across Africa. This full‑time position focuses on providing compliance guidance, conducting audits, monitoring regulatory changes, and ensuring adherence to local employment legislation for both the company and its clients.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret labour law changes, especially Angolan regulations, and advise internal teams and clients.
• Review, update and maintain HR policies, procedures, contracts and job descriptions for legal compliance.
• Support internal and client audits, prepare compliance documentation and reports.
• Ensure payroll processes meet statutory requirements, including tax, social security and labour‑related deductions.
• Oversee immigration and work‑permit compliance for expatriate employees, tracking renewals and visa applications.
• Document employee relations matters, review terminations, and assist with grievance handling.
• Provide HR compliance advisory services, develop action plans and deliver training sessions.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of labour law amendments and regulatory deadlines.

Required profile

• Proven experience in HR compliance, employment law or related HR functions.
• Strong knowledge of Angolan labour legislation and ability to apply it in a multi‑country context.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret regulatory texts and translate them into practical guidance.
• Detail‑oriented approach to documentation, audits and statutory reporting.
• Effective communication skills for advising internal teams, clients and external authorities.
