Audit Manager (Botswana)

About the role

As an Audit Manager at EY, you will lead audit engagements for a diverse portfolio of clients, helping them navigate regulatory changes and protect the integrity of capital markets. You will work on challenging projects across various industries, delivering high‑quality audit services and providing actionable insights.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute audits from start to finish, ensuring compliance with EY’s Global Audit Methodology and International Standards on Auditing (ISA).
• Lead fieldwork at client sites, coordinating with other departments for smooth delivery.
• Review and sign off work prepared by audit staff before submission to the Engagement Partner.
• Identify and assess audit risks, maintaining independence and professional skepticism.
• Implement quality controls and incorporate feedback from internal and external inspections.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and providing recommendations for process improvements.
• Organise audit teams, define roles and responsibilities, and mentor junior staff.
• Demonstrate proficiency in IFRS, local GAAP, US GAAP and PCAOB frameworks.
• Manage engagement economics, timelines and deliverables.
• Identify operational efficiencies and adopt digital audit solutions.
• Support partners in generating new business opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related business discipline.
• Professional qualification such as CA (Zambia), ACCA or equivalent.
• Strong analytical ability to identify audit issues and unusual trends.
• Experience working in a regulated environment with a focus on capital markets.
• Passion for protecting financial markets through rigorous audit procedures.
• Resilience and adaptability in a fast‑moving, changing environment.
