About the role
The Economic Empowerment Programme Coordinator will lead the Community Economic Empowerment Programme (CEEP), driving local procurement, enterprise development and supplier capacity‑building initiatives. This 2‑year fixed‑term role ensures community participation, economic inclusion and alignment with the mine’s localisation and social performance objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and engage eligible local businesses and suppliers for CEEP.
- Liaise with community leaders, local authorities and internal departments to uncover procurement opportunities.
- Facilitate supplier development through training, mentorship and compliance support.
- Monitor, track and report on local procurement targets and commitments.
- Maintain an up‑to‑date database of community suppliers, awarded contracts and performance metrics.
- Work with the supply‑chain team to include local suppliers in RFQs, tenders and subcontracting processes.
- Monitor supplier performance and assist in resolving delivery or compliance issues.
- Prepare regular reports for internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and the community.
- Promote alignment of CEEP with ESG standards and the mine’s social licence to operate.
- Support grievance management related to local procurement and economic inclusion.
- Organise community awareness sessions and forums on procurement processes and business readiness.
- Facilitate linkages between community suppliers and national development agencies, training centres or financiers.
- Ensure compliance with legal frameworks and company standards.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Development Studies, Supply Chain Management, Social Sciences or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in community development, procurement, enterprise development or stakeholder relations.
- Certification in procurement, local economic development or community engagement is an advantage.
- Experience in a mining or industrial environment, preferably with exposure to CEEP or local content programmes.
- Proven track record in facilitating SMME capacity‑building and community engagement.
