Landscape Architect – Capital Projects

About the role

This position offers an experienced Landscape Architect the chance to lead and contribute to capital‑project programmes for a council, covering construction, public realm, regeneration and environmental improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Independently manage landscape‑led, multidisciplinary projects from feasibility and design through procurement, construction, completion and operation.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, surveyors, contractors and external consultants to deliver high‑quality outcomes that meet statutory, financial, operational and community requirements.
• Provide professional design services to a range of clients including housing, education, highways, parks, regeneration, culture and health sectors.

Required profile

• Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in landscape architecture or a closely related discipline; Chartered Membership of the Landscape Institute preferred.
• Minimum three years of professional experience delivering medium‑scale landscape, public realm or regeneration projects independently.
• Strong design ability, knowledge of planning, biodiversity net gain, sustainable drainage, accessibility, heritage and health‑and‑safety considerations.
• Proven experience in contract administration, tender preparation, construction inspection and post‑completion defect management.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Experience with design, visualisation and presentation software.
• Use of specification systems such as NBS.
• Competence with Microsoft 365 applications.
