Lecturer in Mining Engineering – University Position

About the role

The University seeks a qualified Lecturer in Mining Engineering to join its BIUST Campus in Palapye. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and postgraduate students, conduct research, and contribute to the academic reputation of the department.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, tutorials and practical sessions in mining engineering subjects.
• Supervise research projects and graduate theses.
• Develop and manage module or course content, ensuring academic quality.
• Publish research findings in reputable journals and present at conferences.
• Prepare proposals for external funding and accreditation.
• Engage in professional service activities related to mining engineering.

Required profile

• BEng and MEng in Mining Engineering.
• PhD in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated teaching experience or relevant industry experience.
• Strong record of research, publications, or creative works.
• Active involvement in professional or community projects is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Surpac and Datamine mining software.
• Experience in mine planning, surface and underground mining operations.
• Knowledge of mine machinery, blasting, explosives and rock fragmentation.
• Understanding of operations research or mine surveying techniques.
• Computer proficiency and familiarity with research methodology.
