Semi‑Senior Audit Associate

About the role

We are looking for a Semi‑Senior Audit Associate to join EY’s Audit team in Botswana. The role involves delivering external audit and assurance engagements for a diverse client base, ensuring accurate financial reporting and providing insightful advice on accounting matters.

Key responsibilities

• Lead fieldwork, coach junior staff and keep engagement leaders informed on audit progress.
• Manage audit processes, assess audit risk and address technical accounting issues such as revenue, financial instruments and income taxes.
• Engage with clients, deliver professional advice and identify opportunities to improve business processes.
• Stay updated on market trends and share knowledge with junior colleagues.
• Understand client ambitions and refer them to appropriate EY service lines to broaden relationships.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years of experience as an external auditor in a public accounting firm.
• Proven track record of planning, executing and reporting audit engagements.
• Strong client relationship management and communication skills.
• Degree in Accounting and BICA/ACCA qualification (or member of BICA).

Required skills

• Expertise in IFRS and related financial reporting matters.
• External audit methodology and audit risk assessment.
• Knowledge of revenue accounting, financial instruments and income tax accounting.
