About the role
NTU International A/S is seeking a Senior Railways Specialist to provide technical, policy and investment advisory for railway projects worldwide, focusing on Sub‑Saharan Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Asia‑Pacific. The role supports the Global Gateway Transport and Urban Facility 2 project, starting January 2027 for a 48‑month period.
Key responsibilities
- Identify, prepare and implement railway infrastructure and systems projects.
- Conduct feasibility studies, technical assessments, design reviews and investment analyses.
- Support railway planning, corridor development, operations planning and multimodal integration.
- Advise on rail infrastructure, signalling, interoperability, traffic management and safety systems.
- Assist procurement, tendering, implementation supervision, and operation‑maintenance planning.
- Promote sustainable, low‑carbon and climate‑resilient railway solutions.
- Facilitate adoption of European and international railway standards, including ERTMS.
- Contribute to environmental and social assessments, climate resilience and sustainability considerations.
- Support policy, regulatory and institutional reforms and provide capacity‑building to public authorities and sector stakeholders.
- Coordinate with infrastructure managers, operators, contractors, IFIs and development partners.
Required profile
- Master’s degree or equivalent in railway engineering, civil engineering, transport engineering, transport operations or a closely related discipline.
- Extensive knowledge of the railway sector, including infrastructure, operations, interoperability and standards.
- Proven experience in technical assistance, feasibility studies and investment analysis for railway projects.
