Civil Engineer – Utility‑Scale Solar PV & BESS Project

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to lead civil works for a large utility‑scale solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Maun, Botswana. You will oversee the full project lifecycle, ensuring safe, on‑time, and on‑budget delivery of all civil infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve civil designs, drawings, calculations and technical specifications.
• Provide technical support during development, construction, commissioning and handover phases.
• Supervise site preparation, earthworks, roads, drainage, foundations and concrete works.
• Monitor contractor performance, conduct site inspections and enforce compliance with approved designs.
• Manage quality assurance & quality control processes, including ITP reviews and non‑conformance resolution.
• Track construction progress, identify delays and support mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, consultants, suppliers and regulatory authorities.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in power, renewable‑energy, mining, infrastructure or industrial construction projects.
• Proven ability to manage large‑scale civil works in multidisciplinary environments.
• Strong knowledge of engineering standards, regulatory requirements and safety practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management skills.
