Construction Planner – Master Scheduler for Infrastructure Projects

About the role

The Construction Planner will develop, maintain and analyse the master schedule for large‑scale infrastructure projects. Using engineering drawings and tender data, you will create a logic‑driven baseline that defines the project’s critical path and links time to cost.

Key responsibilities

• Translate engineering designs and tender information into a robust construction baseline program.
• Ensure realistic production rates, optimise resource histograms and maintain logical activity links.
• Act as an early‑warning system by providing accurate schedule data for audits and contractual claims.
• Prepare and update programmes for DFI‑funded projects, adhering to strict reporting standards.
• Collaborate with site teams to validate schedule assumptions and adjust plans as needed.

Required profile

• Primary degree in Civil Engineering or a related construction discipline.
• 10–12 years of overall civil engineering experience, including at least 5 years on‑site as a Site Engineer or Site Agent.
• Proven track record developing baselines for infrastructure projects valued at R500M+ (roads, bridges, dams, power plants).
• Experience with projects in the SADC region or funded by the World Bank/AfDB is highly preferred.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in MS Project.
• Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6.
• Certification and practical use of the CCS (Candy) Link/Planning module.
