Contract Manager

About the role

The Contracts Manager leads the full lifecycle of assigned construction projects, ensuring each project is delivered profitably, safely, with high quality, and on schedule. Operating from a regional office while overseeing site teams, the role bridges executive strategy and on‑site execution.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain timetable integrity and strategic planning across multiple sites.
• Drive financial stewardship, maximise profit, and conduct forensic budget reviews.
• Ensure HSEQ compliance – zero safety incidents and uncompromising quality.
• Manage contractual relationships, client interfaces, and high‑level contractual correspondence.
• Provide early risk identification and decisive intervention to protect project health.

Required profile

• B.Sc or B.Tech in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Professional registration such as Pr.CPM (SACPCMP) or Pr.Eng (ECSA) preferred.
• Certificate or diploma in Construction Law (FIDIC/NEC) is an advantage.
• Minimum 15 years total civil engineering experience, including 5‑7 years as a Contracts Manager or Senior Project Manager.
• Significant experience with DFI‑funded infrastructure (roads, bridges, water, mining civils).

Required skills

• Proficiency with RIB CCS (Candy) and Buildsmart software.
• Financial analytics and forensic budget review capability.
• Accurate cost‑to‑complete forecasting and final margin estimation.
• Expert knowledge of FIDIC contracts and ability to draft contractual correspondence.
• Technical breadth across earthworks, concrete works, and specialised infrastructure.
