Rangeland Facilitation Officer

About the role

The Rangeland Facilitation Officer will support district‑level rangeland restoration and climate‑resilience activities for the Ecosystem‑Based Adaptation and Mitigation project in Botswana. Based in Maun, Hukuntsi or Bobonong, the role offers hands‑on experience in rangeland stewardship, livestock production, and community‑based ecosystem restoration.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate implementation of district‑level rangeland restoration activities and work closely with Ministry officials and project partners.
• Manage the deployment, training, and performance monitoring of Ikageng Restoration Workers and EcoRangers.
• Maintain records of participant attendance, deployment schedules, and workforce performance.
• Organise and deliver HR, induction, and technical training programmes, tracking attendance and evaluating effectiveness.
• Build and maintain relationships with government departments, traditional leaders, community organisations, and project partners.
• Collect and compile district‑level project data, preparing regular reports and supporting monitoring and evaluation activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Agricultural Management or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience coordinating community programmes, training, agricultural projects or environmental initiatives.
• Experience working with communal livestock farmers and demonstrated leadership or volunteer experience.
• Strong communication skills in Setswana and English, with the ability to engage stakeholders and facilitate community participation.
• Proven supervisory experience and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
