Service Centre Administrator (Part-Time) - Cashier

About the role

A retail team is looking for an attentive, customer-centric and detail-oriented Cashier to work part-time. As the main point of contact at the till, you will process point-of-sale transactions accurately and maintain store security standards, while also supporting cellular, credit and service administration during transactional downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Process all POS transactions and cash-ups correctly, capture manual invoices electronically within 24 hours and balance cash-ups and floats in front of a Supervisor or Manager.
• Keep till points secure and clean, lock them when unattended, update passwords weekly and deactivate merchandise tags after checkout.
• Run credit card security checks, verify item counts against invoices and report suspicious activity to management and security.
• Answer calls within three rings, handle customer complaints and escalate them when needed, and comply with consumer protection and retail legislation.
• Help customers complete credit and cellular applications, scan and submit agreements, and drive cellular, credit and lay-by sales.
• Offer value-added services such as extended warranties and insurance, and co-ordinate customer repairs by logging items, informing customers of turnaround times and following up on repairs over seven days.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
• 2-3 years of retail experience.
• Practical experience in financial administration or cash handling.
• Experience with cellular and credit vetting processes.

Required skills

• Basic computer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel); SAP experience is an advantage.
• Sound knowledge of financial compliance legislation, supplier warranty procedures and store repair agreements.
• Strong numerical skills, attention to detail and good communication skills.
