Surveyor – Exploration & Mining

About the role

The Surveyor will support mineral exploration projects by acquiring accurate geographic coordinates and interpreting spatial data. Working closely with drilling teams, you will ensure that all survey activities meet the survey code of practice and international best‑practice standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set out coordinates for surface drill holes according to the drilling plan.
• Perform drill‑hole collar and down‑hole surveying, including path monitoring.
• Validate drill‑hole collars using high‑resolution DGPS tools.
• Update and maintain maps and spatial data after drilling activities.
• Manage and validate spatial data from multiple sources to keep the geospatial database current.
• Calibrate survey equipment to guarantee measurement accuracy.
• Implement quality control and assurance for contractors providing drilling and survey services.
• Provide guidance, training and mentorship to junior geologists and field assistants.
• Communicate technical issues clearly to the exploration team, both verbally and in writing.

Required profile

• Diploma in Surveying (a degree is an advantage).
• Minimum 5 years of experience operating GPS/DGPS and related survey equipment in mineral exploration or mining geology.
• Strong knowledge of 2D and 3D modelling techniques.
• Experience handling exploration data such as remote sensing, geological mapping, geochemical and geophysical surveys, drill‑hole data and cadastral information.
• Basic understanding of mine geology workflows.
