Distribution Centre Operations Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead and optimise the day‑to‑day activities of our Distribution Centre in Botswana. The role oversees Receiving, Warehouse, Production Support, Inventory, Logistics and Dispatch, ensuring high productivity, service delivery and compliance with food‑safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations across Receiving, Warehouse, Production Support, Inventory, Logistics and Dispatch.
• Develop and implement operational plans aligned with business objectives and customer demand.
• Monitor performance, productivity, service levels and costs; achieve KPIs.
• Manage inventory processes: stock accuracy, receiving, storage, rotation, cycle counts, variance investigations.
• Drive initiatives to minimise stock losses, damages, expiry and discrepancies.
• Coordinate inbound and outbound product flow and resolve bottlenecks.
• Ensure compliance with HACCP, health & safety, quality and legislative requirements.
• Lead and develop managers and operational teams through workforce planning, recruitment, coaching and performance management.
• Promote a culture of accountability, safety and continuous improvement.
• Analyse KPIs, identify improvement opportunities and implement Lean initiatives.
• Monitor departmental budgets and resource utilisation.
• Support and enhance Warehouse Management System, digital reporting and automation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• Relevant certifications such as Lean Manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma, APICS CPIM/CSCP, HACCP or Food Safety, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) are advantageous.
• Proven experience in managing a distribution centre or large‑scale warehouse operations.
• Strong knowledge of food‑safety standards and regulatory compliance.
