Pension Fund Accountant – Botswana

About the role

Alexforbes Botswana is looking for a detail‑oriented Pension Fund Accountant to manage a portfolio of pension funds. Reporting to the Pension Fund Accounts Manager, you will ensure accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and high‑quality service for internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of pension funds and perform all fund accounting tasks in line with procedures and industry best practices.
• Maintain accurate records of fund transactions and monitor fund bank accounts for suspicious activity.
• Process investment and disinvestment instructions accurately and within required timelines.
• Prepare financial statements in accordance with IFRS and submit quarterly and annual returns to NBFIRA.
• Conduct bank and account reconciliations, prepare asset‑liability matching reports, trustee reports, and ad‑hoc reports.
• Coordinate audit processes, support year‑end close, and ensure timely payment of expenses, including taxes.

Required profile

• AAT qualification or an Accounting degree (ACC​A/CIMA/BICA part qualification is an advantage).
• Registered member of BICA preferred.
• 2‑4 years of accounting experience, preferably with retirement fund accounting.
• Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving ability, and capacity to work under pressure.
