Retail Specification Technologist

About the role

The Retail Specification Technologist joins Victus Global’s Gaborone hub to create and maintain product specifications for retail customers. This full‑time, on‑site position ensures that all specifications meet food safety, quality and regulatory standards while supporting seamless product delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, update and manage product specification documents for retail customers.
• Review product labels and packaging to guarantee compliance with food‑labelling legislation.
• Maintain specification databases and ensure data accuracy.
• Respond to technical queries from customers and internal teams.
• Assist with product approvals, audits and BRCGS compliance.
• Monitor regulatory changes and communicate impacts to relevant stakeholders.
• Coordinate supplier documentation and support continuous‑improvement initiatives in specification management.

Required profile

• Degree in Food Science Technology or a related scientific discipline.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce error‑free documentation.
• Clear, articulate communication skills.
• Resilience and adaptability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
• Organised time‑management to meet critical‑path deadlines.
• Collaborative mindset to work with NPD, commercial, factory and supplier teams.
• Compliance‑driven with deep knowledge of food‑labelling laws.
