Senior Exploration Geologist

About the role

Orano Mining is establishing a new exploration subsidiary in western Botswana and seeks a Senior Exploration Geologist to lead the start‑up camp. You will be responsible for managing on‑site operations, coordinating drilling programmes and ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the exploration camp and logistics, especially in the chief geologist’s absence.
• Oversee contract management for drilling, probing, and camp services.
• Engage with local communities and participate in stakeholder discussions.
• Plan, supervise and document drilling programmes; perform geological logging of core and cuttings.
• Conduct geological, geochemical and radiometric sampling while ensuring QA/QC procedures.
• Interpret geological, geochemical and geophysical data to develop models and support resource growth.
• Maintain accurate geological databases, ensure data traceability and prepare technical reports, maps and cross‑sections.
• Provide regular updates to management and assist in statutory reporting for authorities.
• Ensure compliance with HSE, environmental and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Versatile professional able to handle multiple tasks in a small, remote team.
• Proven experience in mineral exploration, preferably uranium.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary activities.
• Excellent communication skills for community and stakeholder engagement.
