Assistant Production Manager - Garment & Textile

About the role

A leading manufacturing and production company based in Palapye, Botswana, is looking for an Assistant Production Manager to oversee the entire production process, from procurement to quality control. The role suits a strategic thinker with hands-on experience in garment and textile manufacturing, able to optimize workflows, minimize waste and maintain strict quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the full production cycle, from raw material procurement to final product delivery.
• Improve production efficiency by streamlining workflows, optimizing resource allocation and reducing waste.
• Maintain high-quality standards so products meet specifications and client expectations.
• Supervise and support four production supervisors covering branding, materials control, inventory and dispatch, and store administration.
• Implement and enforce production schedules so deadlines are consistently met.
• Monitor workforce productivity, identify training needs and skill gaps, and ensure compliance with safety, health and labour regulations.
• Provide regular reports and strategic recommendations to the MD on production operations.
• Foster a culture of commitment, trust, honesty and continuous improvement within the team.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in textile/garment manufacturing, including at least 3 years in a production management role.
• Bachelor's degree in Textile Manufacturing, Garment Production or a related field.
• Experience in a high-paced environment with strict deadlines; willingness to relocate to Palapye, Botswana.
• Candidates from neighbouring countries such as Lesotho and Zimbabwe are encouraged to apply.
