Construction Planner – Master Schedule Specialist

About the role

The Construction Planner is responsible for building, maintaining and analysing the project’s master schedule. You will translate engineering drawings and tender data into a logic‑driven Construction Baseline Programme that defines the critical path and links time with cost.

Key responsibilities

• Create, update and analyse the master schedule for large‑scale infrastructure projects.
• Convert design documents and tender information into a robust baseline programme.
• Ensure realistic production rates, optimise resource histograms and link every activity with sound engineering logic.
• Act as an early‑warning system, providing data for audits, contractual claims and DFI reporting.
• Defend the firm’s position during audits and contractual negotiations.

Required profile

• Primary degree in Civil Engineering or a related construction discipline.
• Professional registration/certification (e.g., ERB) preferred.
• 10–12 years total civil engineering experience, including at least 5 years as a Site Engineer or Site Agent.
• Experience on infrastructure projects valued at R500M+ (roads, bridges, dams, power plants).
• Background working in the SADC region or on World Bank/AfDB‑funded projects is highly preferred.

Required skills

• Advanced certification in MS Project and/or Primavera P6.
• Certification in CCS (Candy) Link/Planning module.
• Strong knowledge of construction scheduling, resource planning and critical‑path analysis.
