Intermediate Life Support Paramedic & Safety Officer

About the role

Orano Mining is establishing a new exploration subsidiary in western Botswana and seeks an Intermediate Life Support Paramedic & Safety Officer. The role combines emergency medical care with occupational health and safety responsibilities to protect employees and contractors working in a remote, greenfield environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional emergency medical care, first aid, triage, stabilization and pre‑hospital life support, including coordination of medical evacuations.
• Conduct HSE inspections, hazard identification, risk assessments, incident investigations and follow‑up on corrective actions.
• Maintain and inspect emergency response equipment, rescue vehicles, communication devices and coordinate drills and major‑incident exercises.
• Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, emergency response training and safety awareness programmes.
• Perform medical assessments, alcohol/drug testing and driver competency assessments in line with company policy.
• Keep accurate, confidential medical and HSE records, compile statutory reports and ensure safe handling of hazardous and medical waste.

Required profile

• Registered emergency medical qualification with current CPR/BLS and Advanced First Aid certification.
• Valid driver’s licence with 4x4 driving experience.
• Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (OHS).
• Training in incident investigation, Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) / Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and PPE management.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience, preferably in remote exploration or mining environments.
