PS Core Maintenance Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a PS Core Maintenance Engineer to join Huawei's Network Assurance and O&M Services team in Gaborone, Botswana. This role is open only to Botswana local citizens or permanent residents and involves leading end‑to‑end operations, deployment, and optimization of Packet Switched Core network elements to support high availability and network growth across mobile data services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy, configure and maintain Packet Switched Core network elements (EPC and 5GC).
• Perform deep level troubleshooting for complex end‑to‑end data sessions, routing, and subscriber profile issues.
• Optimize packet core capacity and network performance to handle increasing mobile data traffic demands.
• Carry out routine node inspections, monitor health metrics, and execute configuration changes.
• Respond to critical alarms and network faults, ensuring minimal downtime and strict adherence to SLAs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in PS Core architecture and operations.
• At least 3 years of direct experience in Packet Switched Core network planning or maintenance.
• Must be a Botswana citizen or local resident.

Required skills

• Strong functional expertise in PS Core nodes, including EPC, 5GC, SGSN, GGSN, MME, UPF, and SMF.
• Advanced vendor certifications in Core Telecom networks (preferred).
