Head of Accounting (Consultant)

About the role

Fairpoint Corporate Services is looking for an experienced, commercially‑minded Head of Accounting (Consultant) to lead its Accounting Services Department in Gaborone. The role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on technical oversight, ensuring high‑quality service delivery to a diverse client portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and implement departmental policies, procedures, quality‑control standards and operational workflows.
• Design efficient accounting processes to guarantee consistent, timely service delivery.
• Manage a portfolio of accounting and advisory clients, preparing and reviewing annual financial statements and management accounts.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship and supervision to junior accountants and trainees.
• Support business development by contributing to new service offerings and preparing technical proposals.
• Ensure all assignments comply with IFRS, ISA (where applicable), Botswana tax legislation and BICA professional standards.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant qualification (CA), ACCA or an equivalent internationally recognised designation.
• Current registration and good standing with the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA).
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Extensive experience in public practice, preferably at a senior level.
• Proven ability to lead a high‑performing accounting function and manage client relationships.

Required skills

• International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• International Standards on Auditing (ISA) where applicable.
• Botswana tax legislation and regulatory compliance.
• Preparation and review of financial statements and management accounts.
• Technical accounting and business advisory expertise.
