Audit Manager (Botswana)

About the role

EY is hiring an Audit Manager in Gaborone, Botswana. You will work on challenging projects across many companies and industries with a vibrant team, offering a diverse and independent schedule. Your work provides definitive auditing services that capital markets and clients can rely on, analysing financial statements, annual reports and AGMs to ensure compliance with auditing standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute audits from start to finish, following EY's Global Audit Methodology and International Standards on Auditing (ISA)
• Lead fieldwork at client sites and coordinate with other departments
• Review work prepared by audit staff and sign it off before submission to the Engagement Partner
• Identify and assess audit risks, maintaining independence and professional skepticism
• Implement quality controls and act on feedback from internal and external inspections
• Build strong client relationships and advise on improvements to client processes and controls
• Organize and manage audit teams, coach and mentor junior staff and contribute to performance reviews
• Manage engagement economics, timelines and deliverables, and identify efficiencies and digital audit tools
• Support partners in developing new business and expanding client networks

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related business discipline, all qualifications certified by ZAQA
• CA Zambia, ACCA or CIMA or equivalent recognized accounting qualification
• Typically 5-7 years in external audit within a professional services firm
• Proven track record leading, planning and executing audits across diverse industries
• Sociable, goal-oriented and structured, with good analytical skills and a genuine interest in accounting and auditing

Required skills

• IFRS, local GAAP and ISA
• US GAAP or PCAOB where applicable
• Excellent communication, negotiation, leadership and coaching skills
• Analytical mindset and ability to handle complex engagements under tight deadlines
