Senior Security Officer

About the role

The Senior Security Officer will protect Access Bank’s information systems by implementing robust security controls, monitoring threats, and leading incident response activities. This role ensures the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data across the bank’s operations in Botswana.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, analyse and respond to security incidents to mitigate threats promptly.
• Develop, enforce and maintain security policies, procedures and standards.
• Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and recommend remediation actions.
• Collaborate with IT and other departments to embed security controls into systems and processes.
• Support incident response, including investigation, containment and post‑incident reporting.
• Maintain up‑to‑date security documentation, reports and metrics.
• Deliver training and awareness sessions on security best practices for employees.
• Assist with regulatory compliance and internal audit requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., IT, Security Management, Risk, Engineering, Law, Criminology, Military Science).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in information security or a related field.
• At least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CompTIA Security+, CPP, CISM, CFE, ISO 22301/BCM, PSP, APP/AML are preferred.
• Strong understanding of information security frameworks and standards.
• Excellent analytical, communication and teamwork abilities.
