Head of Business Banking

About the role

The Head of Business Banking will join the Absa Bank Botswana Country Management Committee and lead the Business Banking franchise. This senior position is responsible for shaping strategy, driving revenue growth, and ensuring risk‑adjusted returns across lending, deposits and fee income.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the Botswana Business Banking strategy aligned with country, regional and group objectives.
• Lead the operating model to improve competitiveness, client experience, cost efficiency and scalability.
• Represent Business Banking in country and regional governance forums and influence investment priorities.
• Own full P&L and balance‑sheet accountability, setting financial targets for growth, profitability and returns.
• Monitor portfolio health, pricing discipline, risk‑adjusted returns and key performance indicators.
• Drive cross‑selling of transactional, treasury and other Business Banking solutions.
• Sponsor and oversee material credit transactions in partnership with Credit, Risk and Product teams.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in business banking or a comparable financial services function.
• Strong track record of delivering profitable growth and managing P&L responsibility.
• Deep understanding of credit risk, regulatory compliance and macro‑economic dynamics in Botswana.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and represent the franchise at governance forums.
