LHD Operator – Underground Mining

About the role

The LHD Operator will work on the new Jwaneng Underground Mining Development Project, driving a Load‑Haul‑Dump machine to move ore and waste rock safely and efficiently. This position is open to Botswana citizens and plays a critical part in meeting production targets while maintaining strict safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the LHD (Load‑Haul‑Dump) equipment to transport materials within the underground mine.
• Perform pre‑shift inspections and ensure all safety checks are completed.
• Achieve daily production targets through safe and effective machine operation.
• Conduct basic maintenance and minor repairs on the LHD as required.
• Dump materials at designated locations and assist with material handling logistics.

Required profile

• Minimum Junior Certificate.
• At least 3 years of underground mining experience as an LHD Operator.
• Valid LHD operator training certificate, licence or ticket.
• Citizenship of Botswana.
• Good communication skills and ability to work safely in a team environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in operating LHD equipment.
• Ability to operate a Sandvik LH621i (preferred).
• Valid driver’s licence.
• First Aid & CPR certification.
