Improvement Engineer – Mining Value Chain

About the role

The Improvement Engineer will support continuous improvement and value optimisation across the mining value chain. Working closely with operational departments, you will help identify value drivers, constraints and opportunities that boost productivity, lower unit costs and enhance overall business performance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Senior Improvement Engineer in establishing and maintaining business improvement processes.
• Collaborate with departments to identify value drivers, constraints and buffers across the mining value chain.
• Facilitate value stream mapping (VSM) and value‑chain diagnostics.
• Identify, prioritise and track improvement initiatives.
• Develop dashboards and reporting tools using Excel, Power BI and databases.
• Monitor performance against business‑plan targets and highlight variances.
• Support root‑cause analysis and corrective‑action development.
• Collect and validate data for value‑optimisation projects.
• Participate in cross‑functional workshops to uncover operational bottlenecks.
• Communicate and report improvement initiatives to management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, mineral processing, metallurgy, industrial engineering or a related discipline.
• Registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) or eligibility to register.
• 2‑5 years of operational or technical experience in mining, mineral processing or related engineering fields.
• Site‑based operational or technical experience is highly regarded.
• Experience planning and executing continuous‑improvement projects.
